The cottonwood trees have opened up their pods and the stringy cotton is flying everywhere. I noticed some strands were caught on a couple wild flowers. After shooting a few photos from above, I thought to try a more unconventional angle. By placing the flowers between my camera and the sun, I was able to better capture the texture of the vein filled petals and the delicate cottonwood fluff. While the flowers were a beautiful purple color, a new sense of drama and intensity was added to the image when it was converted to black and white. An ordinary image now becomes extraordinary.
