The steeplechase is one of my favorite track events to photograph. The flying water and stumbling athletes make for incredibly dynamic photos. While most photographers were on the track portion to shoot the pit, I chose the grass on the inside of the curve where the sun would be at my back. At this angle, I could get excellent shots of the athletes flying out the pit, water spraying everywhere. An unexpected gymnastics display occurred when an athlete tripped and execute a perfect somersault out of the pit before springing up to keep running. All if it was caught with a quick burst of the shutter.
